Meet Kimberly Keiser

MA, LPC-MH, CST, CST-S

I am a licensed psychotherapist, AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor, EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, clinical consultant, educator, and researcher specializing in the intersections of sexuality, trauma, relationships, and the body.

Licensed in both South Dakota and New York, I work with individuals, couples, and interpersonal therapy groups experiencing sexual, relational, and psychological distress, with particular expertise in sexual dysfunction, sexual pain, trauma and posttraumatic stress, childhood maltreatment, intimacy, and complex relationship concerns.

My work brings together more than two decades of experience in psychology and behavioral health with advanced training in sex therapy, trauma and somatic therapies, couples therapy, and interpersonal psychotherapy. I also provide clinical consultation to psychotherapists and other healthcare professionals and develop professional education, continuing education programs, workshops, presentations, and webinars that translate research and clinical theory into meaningful practice.

Alongside my clinical work, I conduct research with clinical forensic neuropsychologist Kristine M. Jacquin, PhD, examining the relationships among childhood maltreatment and sexual victimization, posttraumatic stress, interpersonal and somatic processes, and adult sexual functioning. My developing research program focuses on identifying the psychological and physiological mechanisms through which childhood maltreatment may contribute to sexual dysfunction and on advancing the measurement and assessment of sexual functioning.

Across my clinical, research, consultation, and educational work, I return to the same fundamental question: How do our experiences become embodied in the ways we feel, relate, and experience our sexuality—and how can understanding those processes create meaningful opportunities for change?
