Introducing Internal Family Systems (IFS): A New, Helpful Approach to Therapy in Sioux Falls

There’s an excited energy in the air at Kimberly Keiser & Associates.

Not only is our team gearing up for a company retreat in Massachusetts this March, but we’re also buzzing about a fantastic therapy model we’ve been using with our clients (and seeing great success with): Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Today, we want to introduce you to the IFS model and share why anyone — yes, including you! — can benefit from this innovative type of therapy in Sioux Falls.

What Is IFS Therapy?

Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a groundbreaking, evidence-based approach to psychotherapy that seeks to understand the mind, help people heal, and ultimately make the world a more compassionate place.

IFS therapists believe the mind is naturally multiple, and that’s okay! We all have inner parts, or '“internal families,” that contain valuable qualities. Our core Self can help us balance these parts, allowing us to become integrated and whole.

The IFS model asserts that each person has some wounded parts, like anger or shame, and other parts that try to control and protect us from those wounded parts. IFS therapists help identify and reconcile these parts, so the person’s core Self can find true healing.

While IFS is particularly helpful for trauma therapy clients, anyone can benefit from the IFS model. We recommend IFS therapy to all clients seeking healing and wholeness.

This is the best therapy I've ever learned and practiced.

Stay Tuned for Details After Our Upcoming Team Retreat!

We love the Internal Family Systems approach so much, we’re going on an entire company retreat just to learn more about it.

From March 8 – 13, our team will be at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, to learn from Dr. Dick Schwartz himself. He is leading a workshop called “Negotiating Relationships with IFS: Self-Leadership for Healing,” which offers:

  • An introduction to the IFS model of psychotherapy

  • Tools to apply IFS to relationships

  • New ways to work with countertransference with clients

The Kimberly Keiser & Associates team is thrilled to have the opportunity to both bond as a team and learn more about how we can employ the IFS model to help our clients achieve their therapy goals.

After all, our company theme for 2020 is “Raise the Bar.” By investing in ourselves, we hope to not only become better counselors in Sioux Falls, but also show our clients that we care about providing them the best treatment possible.

To keep up with our journey in IFS and more, subscribe for news and updates from the Kimberly Keiser team.
